Every destination, with each item marked as needed for admission, for the visa, or only in certain circumstances. Starting these early is the single most effective thing you can do to protect your intake.
Start with these, whatever you choose
These six are needed for every destination. There is no reason to wait until you have decided.
- Passport — check the expiry date now; renewal in Nepal takes time
- Academic transcripts and mark sheets for every year, not only final results
- SEE / SLC, +2 and degree certificates
- An English test result, or a booked test date
- Work experience evidence: appointment letters, experience letters, salary records
- Documented evidence of where your family's funds came from

Australia
Admission document required: Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
Valid passport
Must have adequate validity remaining. Check the expiry date early — renewal in Nepal takes time.
Academic transcripts and mark sheets
Complete records for every year of study, not only final results.
Certificates of completion
SLC/SEE, +2 and any degree certificates. Provisional certificates are usually acceptable initially.
English test result
IELTS, PTE, TOEFL or another accepted test, valid at the time of application.
Statement of Purpose
Your account of why this course, this institution and this country.
CV or résumé
Required by most postgraduate programmes.
Letters of recommendation
Academic referees for recent graduates; a mix of academic and professional for those with work experience.
Work-experience documents
Appointment letters, experience letters and salary evidence where work experience supports your application.
Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
Issued by your provider after acceptance and payment. The visa application depends on it.
Overseas Student Health Cover policy
Must cover the full visa period.
Financial capacity evidence
Bank statements, income evidence, loan approval or sponsor documentation with a traceable source of funds.
Genuine Student response
Your written response addressing the Genuine Student requirement.
Health examination results
Completed with an approved panel physician; results are submitted electronically.
Biometrics
Where requested by the Department.
Police clearance certificate
Where character documentation is requested.
Relationship documents
Marriage certificate and supporting evidence where a partner is included in the application.
Birth certificates for dependants
Where dependent children are included.
Parental consent documentation
Where the applicant is under 18.
United Kingdom
Admission document required: Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
Valid passport
With sufficient validity remaining for the full course duration.
Academic transcripts and certificates
Complete year-by-year records plus final certificates.
English test result
In the version the university specifies for the CAS — confirm whether a UKVI-approved SELT is required.
Personal statement
Your account of why this course and this university.
Academic and professional references
Usually two. Request early — these commonly delay applications.
CV
Required for most postgraduate applications.
Work-experience evidence
Where experience supports the application, particularly for MBA entry.
Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
The electronic reference issued by your sponsor. Verify every field before applying.
Financial evidence — 28-day statement
Showing the required maintenance held for 28 consecutive days, ending within 31 days of application.
Tuberculosis test certificate
From a UK-approved clinic. Specifically required for applicants from Nepal.
Immigration Health Surcharge payment reference
Generated during the online application.
Biometrics
Enrolled at the visa application centre.
ATAS certificate
Required for certain sensitive science, engineering and technology programmes. Your university will tell you if it applies.
Parental consent and care arrangements
Where the applicant is aged 16 or 17.
Relationship and dependant documents
Where dependants are eligible and included.
United States
Admission document required: Form I-20, issued by an SEVP-certified institution
Valid passport
With validity extending well beyond your intended period of stay.
Academic transcripts and certificates
Complete records; many institutions require these sent directly by the issuing institution.
Credential evaluation report
Where the institution requires an external evaluation of Nepali qualifications.
Standardised test scores
SAT, GRE or GMAT where required, reported officially by the test provider.
English test result
TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or Duolingo to the institution's standard.
Statement of purpose and essays
Weighted heavily in US admissions.
Letters of recommendation
Usually two or three, frequently submitted directly by the referee through a portal.
Form I-20
Issued by the SEVP-certified institution after admission and financial documentation. The visa application depends on it.
SEVIS I-901 fee receipt
Must be paid before the interview and presented at it.
DS-160 confirmation page
With the barcode. Required to enter the interview.
MRV fee receipt
Proof of visa application fee payment.
Financial evidence
Bank statements, income evidence, loan sanction or sponsor affidavit covering at least the first year as stated on the I-20.
Interview appointment confirmation
Printed confirmation of your Embassy appointment.
Assistantship or scholarship letter
Where funding comes from the institution, this substantially strengthens the financial picture.
Sponsor relationship documents
Where a relative sponsors you, evidence of the relationship and of their income.
Canada
Admission document required: Letter of Acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution, plus a Provincial/Territorial Attestation Letter where required
Valid passport
With adequate validity for the intended period of study.
Academic transcripts and certificates
Complete records for all previous study.
English test result
To the institution's required standard.
Statement of purpose / study plan
Also used to support the study permit application.
Letters of recommendation
Required by most graduate programmes.
Letter of Acceptance (LOA)
From a Designated Learning Institution. The study permit application depends on it.
Provincial or Territorial Attestation Letter (PAL/TAL)
Required for most applicants. Master's and doctoral students at a public DLI are exempt from 1 January 2026.
Proof of financial support
Covering the CAD 22,895 threshold plus tuition and travel, with a documented source.
Proof of tuition payment
Usually required to obtain the PAL and strengthens the permit application.
Immigration medical examination
Completed with an IRCC-approved panel physician.
Biometrics
Fingerprints and photograph at a designated collection point.
Police clearance certificate
Where requested by IRCC.
Custodian declaration
Where the applicant is a minor.
Marriage certificate and spouse documents
Where a spouse accompanies you or applies for an open work permit.
Ireland
Admission document required: Unconditional offer letter from a recognised Irish institution, with evidence of fee payment
Valid passport
With adequate validity for the intended period of study.
Academic transcripts and certificates
Complete records for all previous study.
English test result
To the institution's required standard.
Statement of purpose
Explaining your choice of programme and institution.
CV
Required for most postgraduate applications.
Letters of recommendation
Usually required at postgraduate level.
Unconditional offer letter
From the Irish institution, confirming your place.
Evidence of tuition fee payment
Ireland generally expects fees paid before the visa application is submitted.
Financial evidence
Demonstrating adequate funds for your circumstances. No fixed threshold applies — the objective is a clear, traceable picture.
Private medical insurance
Required for the visa and for IRP registration.
AVATS application summary form
Generated on completing the online application; sets out how to lodge documents and pay.
Passport photographs
To the specification stated in the application instructions.
Evidence of ties to Nepal
Supporting your stated intention to return after your studies.
Police clearance certificate
Where requested.
New Zealand
Admission document required: Offer of Place from an approved New Zealand education provider
Valid passport
With adequate validity for the intended period of study.
Academic transcripts and certificates
Complete records for all previous study.
English test result
To the institution's required standard and acceptable to Immigration New Zealand.
Statement of purpose
Explaining your programme choice and study plans.
Letters of recommendation
Required by most postgraduate programmes.
Offer of Place
From the New Zealand institution. The visa application depends on it.
Evidence of tuition fee payment
Tuition is normally paid before the visa is granted.
Evidence of funds
NZD 20,000 per year for living costs, in addition to tuition, from a traceable source.
Medical examination results
Completed by an approved panel physician, typically including a chest X-ray.
Police certificate
From Nepal Police, for the character requirements.
Medical and travel insurance
Acceptable cover for the full duration of your stay.
Evidence of ties to Nepal
Supporting your genuine intention as a temporary entrant.
Partner and dependant documents
Where family members accompany you and are eligible.
