The UK's central advantage for Nepali students is time. A taught master's degree usually takes twelve months rather than two years, and a bachelor's degree three years rather than four. That difference compounds: one less year of tuition, one less year of living costs, and a year earlier into work. Against that, the UK asks for its money up front and documents its requirements with unusual precision — which is a genuine advantage if you prepare properly, because there is very little guesswork about what is expected.
UK qualifications sit within nationally regulated frameworks and are widely recognised internationally. Professional recognition, as everywhere, is a separate matter: nursing, medicine, law, engineering and accountancy each have their own registration body, and a UK degree does not by itself grant the right to practise in Nepal or in a third country. Where professional practice is the goal, confirm the registration route before choosing the course.
The London/non-London divide is the single most important financial fact about studying in the UK, and it is written into the visa rules themselves. Living costs, rent and travel are substantially higher in London, and the maintenance requirement reflects that. Cities like Sheffield, Leicester, Cardiff, Glasgow, Newcastle and Coventry offer strong universities at materially lower cost. Most institutions guarantee first-year accommodation for international students, and student discounts on rail travel and retail are widely available.

Admission English and visa English are not the same thing
The UK draws a sharper distinction than most countries between admission English and visa English. At degree level a licensed sponsor can assess your English itself and confirm this on the CAS. Below degree level you must sit an approved Secure English Language Test at an approved centre — an ordinary IELTS booking will not satisfy this. Ask your university explicitly which test and which version they require for the CAS, and book only after they confirm.

That gives £13,761 or £10,539 respectively for a full-length course, on top of any unpaid tuition. The money must be held for 28 consecutive days in a qualifying account, and the closing balance date must fall within 31 days of your visa application date. This 28-day rule is applied strictly and is the single most common technical reason UK student applications are refused — plan the calendar backwards from your intended application date, and do not move the money during the 28-day window.
